Frank Sanford

You are invited to the opening of ‘PRESENCE’, paintings by Frank Sanford on Saturday 30th March 2013 at 6pm by Séadna Tóibín.
The Russell Gallery in New Quay, Co. Clare, Ireland is delighted to announce the launch of its first exhibition of the year: ‘PRESENCE’. A collection of paintings by FRANK SANFORD renowned Kinvara based artist. The show will be opened on Saturday 30th of March 2013 at 6pm by Séadna Tóibín and will continue until the 5th of May 2013.
The Russell Gallery has successfully collaborated with Frank for a number of years and this exhibition is a further confirmation of his painterly ability and honesty in defining and understanding the environment where he lives.
His interpretation of the landscape is distinctive and characterized by the lack of details yet a total ‘presence’ and participation in its definition as a place. Mountains and water on the edge of the Burren are depicted in all its beauty and wildness with a strong presence of distance and space.
The Burren’s energy has attracted painters, writers, musicians, photographers and poets over many years: an extraordinarily creative place, of which the Kinvara area is a very particular hub, where the artist plays an immense part, on all levels in the community. This exhibition especially wants to be a celebration and an acknowledgement of this community’s support of the Arts and the artist.
Letje De Goede, the poet, once said of Frank Sanford’s work:
‘You don’t look AT Frank’s paintings. You look INTO them!’
